There're a bunch of auto-rack cars just sitting out in the weeds in plain view. Not a lot of great art but did snag a beaut' of a piece from the car. The stencil face looks a bit like a Swoon but I wouldn't bet on it. The ape to the left was unfinished so that raised a couple of questions. The International was in Balboa Park and was originally red. Not only was it hot but it was also the kick off of one of the west coast's biggest gay-pride weekends. That being said, nearly everyone's outside either sweating to death or in a car, sitting in traffic...sweating to death. Some more fabulously than others. There's and exhibition opening later this morning at SDMOCA celebrating the art de la rue. Artists include Shepard Fairey, Banksy, JR, Space Invader, and others. Climbed a hill crossed a bridge and found some tasty hoppers. Got back in the car drove a bit more and found 8732, all by it's self. Miho Gastrotruck has got it going on. Boasting some twists on the traditional taco truck fare the good guys on the Miho are winning hearts and stomachs with delicious items like Cochinita Pibil tacos and Banh Mi. Although their menu includes some other choice treats like grass fed beef hamburgers and Korean BBQ chicken and Potato Croquetas served with safron aoli. I only tried the tacos and the banh mi. The pibil tacos(tacitos x 3)are a slow roasted pork seasoned with some slow burning spice and topped with pickled onions, great stuff. The banh mi was as cool and refreshing as it was fresh. This style apparently doesn't involve the cupcake, proper. It's specifically designed for the consumption of frosting. <br /> Unknown to me, at no point during the consumption process should the wrapper ever leave contact with the cupcake. If said wrapper should separate, be prepared for alligator tears; requests for tear removal and the re-application of wrapper. This is not a rapid consumable, cupcake frosting is meant to be a thoroughly enjoyed and frequently worn.<br /> Only after the entirety of the frosting has been eliminated from the surface of the cupcake can the remainder of the cupcake be shared and the wrapper removed. Adding a couple of deets to a model and sorting through some more photos. Waiting on the last load of an abominable pile of laundry. Then I have the luxury to pass right the 'F' out, if it comes to that. The sun has taken to meandering awfully close to the arc where it sort lazily comes through my living room/bedroom window. This particular arc lasts for a good couple of hours and has one of the most sedating effects I've the privilege to experience. Take chores for instance, they were a drag when you were a kid. They don't stop being a drag but your appreciation of time has changed. The miserable eternity you'd spend mowing the lawn or folding laundry now passes in the same span as part of a TV show or maybe half an album. Eh, whatever. Being done with chores certainly makes stuff you want to do all the more savory! Mariscos German on 35th and University is close, cheap, and not to mention delicious. Had a Taco Marlyn (marlin) and a Tostada Loca (every see creature from The Little Mermaid.) For a writer, is not painting the typical red box car (vanilla box car color) akin to rebellion? Is it a luxury? Is it the relative closeness to white, not to mention the utter scarcity of white cars of any type, with or without graffiti on them? I haven't had the luxury of capturing any white cars yet. The tricky part is to pull bracketed shots of moving subject matter. Can be a bit frustrating too when you've only got 0 and - exposures of and +'s already headed down the line. Tried taking some bracketed exposures of moving objects, some came out and some didn't. The graffiti pieces, aside from the ghost were shot off of a moving freight train. The ghost was probably the best example of local graf. offered. The engine was taken with the permission of one of the engineers working on it. The professor had already started her spiel about the test this coming Wednesday. She also lauded the students who attended the voluntary study group during her absence last week. She even went so far as to leave a sign-in sheet for the students who were meticulous enough to show up (good for them.) She than proceeded to meritoriously award the group 5 points of extra credit. Now here's where the funny starts. Right after the now-glowing student who turned in the official sign-in sheet sits down another student stands right up. He has to be young guy maybe 19, barely. Full of pomp and braggadocio he walks right up to the professor and hands her another sheet with maybe five names on it and proceeds to tell her that he and these other students on this list participated in their own study group. She takes the list scans it for barely a second and then proceeds to tell the class "anyone with their name on this list, loses five points." I had to fight back a laugh that wanted out so very bad! Apparently she knew, or heard of this list during the class prior to the study group and waited for this moment to materialize. Her delivery was so quick and dry, it seemed that only a few people in the class caught it. She than reminded everyone about the list before she excused everyone for the evening. This is an HDR shot of MAC and RETNA's piece on the south side of CREAM coffee shop, at the northern terminus of Park Boulevard. Finally managed to do something other than drive by and gawk. Too many times have I had the opportunity to capture something choice and missed the opportunity. This is not admittedly the best shot, something without an drop-shadowed ATM would be nice. Most recently side streets and alleyways. Now pedestrians have bright yellow, non-slick, lego'esque tile gracing the formerly vanilla concrete ramp portion of the sidewalk. I guess it was only a matter of time before someone (not endorsing, but damn, it's candy) decided that the bumpy yellow bit of tread would provide an interesting textured canvas, it is too. <div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Me, being a new fan of hdr photography found this to be a perfect example with which to dry run the auto-bracketing feature on the new Rebel. Perfect bright afternoon light and a subject that I literally trip over walking out of the house. I know it's graffiti and it'll look shabby in a week or two.
